London/Comiso (gro) Ryanair is bringing the picturesque southeast of Sicily, blessed with vast beaches, closer to Central Europe. Starting in September, Europe’s largest low-cost airline will fly directly from London-Standsted to Comiso at least twice a week. Already from the month of August, there will be daily flights to and from Rome-Ciampino and soon to and from Brussels (Charleroi Airport). The Irish Ryanair reportedly expects Comiso to handle 150,000 passengers per year in the medium term.
Airport number 22
.
Comiso is the 22nd Italian airport served by Ryanair. And the operators of the new civilian airport, southwest of Syracuse and close to the Unesco World Heritage-listed Val di Noto, are pleased with the Irish airline’s commitment, which incidentally ensures that nearly 200 new jobs will be created in and around Comiso.
Ideal for eventful Sicilian holidays
.
Sun-seeking Sicily vacationers can also rejoice. The wide sandy beaches on the coast off Ragusa, Modica and Scicli are not yet overcrowded and stocked with well-developed vacation domiciles, including splendid luxury villas. In addition, there are the world-famous Sicilian baroque towns of Noto, Modica, Ragusa and Scicli and a much-praised regional cuisine. Ryanair plans to offer flights to Comiso from 22.99 euros. From Germany, Comiso is best reached with Ryanair via Milano-Malpensa or Milano-Ovest (Bergamo)
